Once again, this year we are partnering with the Kansas City Art Institute and offering an artwork contest for children K-6.

The winner will receive the following:

• Winning artwork will be featured on commemorative merchandise sold at the event and on the website.
• A 2009 Friends of the Zoo Family Membership
• A certificate for a free Youth Class through the Continuing Education Department at the Kansas City Art Institute.
• $50 cash awarded at his or her school assembly.
• A free entry into the Zoo run.
• Free choice of apparel with winning artwork as well as being recognized at the awards ceremony the day of the race.

• For 2008, the Kansas City Zoo Run Artwork Contest (for students K-6 grade) will be partnering once again with the Kansas City Art Institute, whom will be involved in the judging of the winning artwork.

• Entrant artwork due date is August 25, 2008. Submissions should include: Name, Phone, Age, & School clearly on the back of each submission. Submit to: 2007 Kansas City Zoo Run Committee, P.O. Box 4000, #151, Olathe, KS 66063-4000. Please make sure all artwork is packaged to ensure it is not damaged in transit.
  
  
• Each submission should include a black and white drawing outline of the design, along with a photo copy of the drawing that the child would color. Please use no more than 4 colors. This allows us to translate the artwork to the merchandise. No chalk permissible. The artwork should feature our 2008 endangered species, the Frog. It should have visual references to the run. No writing, date or place reference necessary.
  
  
• Entrant may submit multiple designs. Each submission will be considered independently.
  
  
• Submitted artwork will not be returned to the entrant, except by special arrangement.
  
  
• The entrant submitting the winning artwork will be awarded: a certificate for a free Youth Class through the Continuing Education Department at the Kansas City Art Institute; $50 cash awarded at his or her school assembly; a free entry into the run; free choice of apparel with artwork as well as be recognized at the awards ceremony the day of the event.
  
  
• The entrant will be given credit for the winning artwork, unless the entrant specifically requests anonymity.
  
  
• The entrant agrees to relinquish all usage rights to the winning artwork. The winning artwork will become the sole property of Event Midwest, L.L.C., to be used soley at its discretion.
  
  
• The Kansas City Zoo Run reserves the right to alter the winning artwork, as required for reproduction.
  
  
• The shirts allow for artwork up to 12" X 12" in size, and we like to maximize our usage of this space (that is, the printed artwork will measure 12" in at least one dimension). This means that the original artwork must be able to scale to this size without appearing "jagged" or "blocky".
  
  
• As for color, the shirts will be printed in 4-color.
  
  
• Designs using paints and pencils, and the like are welcome. No chalk permitted. Please apply the above suggestions as appropriate.
  
  
• Entry into the artwork contest constitutes understanding of and agreement to these rules and regulations.
